The Lupus Alliance of Long Island/Queens is committed to supporting scientific and medical lupus research at local and national levels. One of our prime accomplishments has been our donations of over $500,000 to novel research grants into the cause and cure of lupus.
In the last few years, more funding has been directed at lupus research through government, for profit and non-profit organizations. For example, the National Institute of Health allocated $84 million in 2008 to fund lupus-related research. After so many years of under funding and unfocused attention in the research community, these initiatives are very encouraging.
There is a considerable amount of information on the web about lupus research. Keep coming back to the Lupus Alliance of LIQ website to check out the latest information on research and related developments.
